Dreame L40 Ultra Gen 2 review: corner reach and carpet control

The L40 Ultra Gen 2 is the one non-Roborock robot we cover so far. It stands out for reaching corners and for giving you real control over how it treats carpets. It has the highest average rating in our set, but from a much smaller pool of reviews.

Good fit if…

  • Rooms with lots of corners and furniture edges
  • Homes with several rug types (four carpet modes, including carpet avoidance)
  • Buyers who want an alternative to Roborock

Look elsewhere if…

  • You want a long track record — about 600 ratings so far
  • You want exact figures for dock washing temperature or bag life, which the listing doesn't give

What stands out

  • 25,000 Pa suction with five levels, per Dreame
  • Extends its brush and mop into corners and under furniture
  • Four carpet modes: avoid, suction boost, intensive, and a 0.41-inch mop lift
  • All-in-one self-cleaning dock

Keep in mind

  • Much smaller rating base than the Roborock models
  • Dock specs (wash temperature, drying, bag life) aren't detailed in the listing
  • Obstacle handling is described generally (it avoids items like shoes)

What it is

The L40 Ultra Gen 2 is Dreame’s robot vacuum and mop with an all-in-one self-cleaning dock. It’s the only non-Roborock robot we cover so far.

Corners are the headline

Dreame’s pitch is edge and corner cleaning. The robot extends its brush and mop to reach into corners and under furniture. If your rooms have a lot of cabinet toe-kicks and furniture legs, that’s the feature to weigh against Roborock’s FlexiArm on the Qrevo 2 Pro.

Suction you can tune

Dreame rates it at 25,000 Pa, with five suction levels. As always, Pa figures are the maker’s own and don’t compare cleanly across brands.

Carpet control

This is where it gives you the most say. It has four carpet modes: carpet avoidance, suction boost, intensive carpet cleaning, and mop lifting of 0.41 inch (about 10.4 mm). Its Smart Pathfinder and 3DAdapt navigation map the home and steer around obstacles like shoes.

What we can’t tell you yet

The listing doesn’t detail the dock’s washing temperature, drying, or bag capacity, so we haven’t compared those. It also has about 600 Amazon ratings (averaging roughly 4.4), a much smaller base than the Roborock models here. We’ll revisit it as more owners weigh in.
